Use Voodle from ChatGPT and Claude

Connect your Voodle Studio account to ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code or Codex and make narrated whiteboard videos without leaving the conversation. Describe an idea, paste a script or attach a PDF; the assistant shows you the credit cost, starts the video once you agree, and hands you the link when the MP4 is ready. Videos land in your Voodle projects like any other, and credits are charged exactly as they are on the web.

Every assistant connects to the same server address (MCP URL):

https://api.voodle.studio/mcp

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins), select + and choose Add custom MCP server. Your workspace’s settings decide whether custom servers are allowed.
  2. Name it Voodle, paste the MCP URL above as the connection and choose OAuth for authentication, then create it.
  3. ChatGPT opens a Voodle page. Sign in, check what the app is asking for, and choose Allow.
  4. In a new chat, type @, pick Voodle and ask for a video, for example “Make a short whiteboard video explaining the water cycle for 5th graders”.

Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)

Add Voodle to Claude opens Claude’s custom-connector dialog with the name and URL filled in. To add it by hand:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Voodle and paste the MCP URL above. Leave the advanced OAuth fields empty.
  3. Choose Connect, sign in to Voodle and choose Allow.

A connector you add on claude.ai is also available in Claude Desktop when you sign in with the same account. Connectors always sign in with OAuth: never paste a personal API key into a connector that your organisation shares.

Claude Code

The Voodle plugin for Claude Code bundles this connection with ready-made skills for making a video, finding your videos and checking your credits. Add our marketplace and install it; it signs in with OAuth:

/plugin marketplace add voodle-studio/voodle-plugins
/plugin install voodle@voodle

To add the server yourself, run this, then type /mcp in Claude Code to sign in:

claude mcp add --transport http voodle https://api.voodle.studio/mcp

For scripts, CI or a machine where a browser sign-in is awkward, create an API key under Account → Connected apps and pass it as a header instead:

claude mcp add --transport http voodle https://api.voodle.studio/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer $VOODLE_API_KEY"

Each key lists exactly what it may do, and you can revoke it at any time. Treat it like a password: anyone holding it can act on your account within those permissions.

Codex

Codex uses the same Voodle plugin as ChatGPT. Add our marketplace, then install Voodle from the plugin browser and sign in when asked:

codex plugin marketplace add voodle-studio/voodle-plugins

What the app can do

  • Make a narrated whiteboard video from an idea, a script or a PDF, after showing you what it will cost.
  • Follow a video while it is drawn and voiced, then hand you the link to watch the finished MP4.
  • List, find, rename and delete your projects, read their scripts, and export a video again at another resolution.
  • Browse story layouts and voices before you start.
  • Show your plan, credit balance, usage and credit history.

It cannot buy credits, change your plan or touch your password. Those stay on voodle.studio, behind your normal sign-in. Scene-by-scene editing stays in the Voodle editor.

Credits and confirmation

Making a video from a chat costs the same credits as making it on the web. Before it starts anything, the assistant asks Voodle for an estimate and shows it to you. It goes ahead only after you say yes, and it sends that estimate as the most it may spend: the final charge can be lower, never higher. Each connection also has a daily spending limit, as a guard against runaway loops.

Nothing is ever bought in a chat. If your balance runs short, compare plans on the pricing page, top up on voodle.studio, and ask the assistant to carry on.

Privacy and control

  • The assistant sends Voodle what you ask it to: your idea, script or PDF, and the settings it picks. Voodle sends back project titles, scripts, progress, links and the account details its permissions allow. How OpenAI or Anthropic handle the conversation itself is governed by their terms.
  • Finished videos get an unlisted link so the assistant can show them to you: anyone with the link can watch. Deleting the project removes the video and its link.
  • When an app asks to connect, Voodle shows you exactly what it will be able to do, and you choose Allow or Deny. Only a hash of each API key is stored.
  • Disconnect an app or revoke an API key under Account → Connected apps. Access stops immediately.

Questions

Does it cost extra to use Voodle from ChatGPT or Claude?

No. Every plan can connect, including Free. Making or exporting a video from a chat spends the same credits as doing it on voodle.studio, and nothing else is charged.

Can the assistant spend my credits without asking?

The assistant first asks Voodle for a quote and shows it to you. It starts the video only after you confirm, and it sends that quote as a maximum, so Voodle never charges more than the amount you approved.

Can I buy credits or change my plan from a chat?

No. Buying credits, changing your plan and every payment happen only on voodle.studio. When you run low, the assistant points you to the pricing page.

Who can watch the videos I make from a chat?

Each finished video gets an unlisted link so the assistant can show it to you. Anyone with that link can watch it. Deleting the project removes the video and its link.

Can I edit a video scene by scene from the chat?

No. The assistant can create, rename, export and delete projects and read their scripts. To change a scene, a drawing, the voice-over or the music, open the project in the Voodle editor from the link the assistant gives you.

How do I disconnect an assistant?

Open Account → Connected apps on voodle.studio and choose Disconnect next to the app, or revoke the API key it uses. Access stops immediately. Signing out other sessions or changing your password also disconnects every assistant and API key.
