Characters, props, and uploads
Voodle casts a searchable library of hand-drawn characters and props from your story. Swap anyone, reuse a small cast, or upload your own art as a doodle.

Casting is how Voodle picks who lives on the board. The wizard searches a library of hand-drawn characters and props from your story, then you keep, swap, or replace them with an upload. A small repeating cast beats a new person every scene.
Let the library search, then edit
The search is semantic — you do not need the exact filename of “teacher with a book.” The brief “grade 8 science teacher, curious, not scary” is enough to get options.
In the cast panel:
- Keep anyone who can appear in more than one scene
- Swap anyone who fights the tone
- Avoid six extras who will never be named in the voiceover
Props should mean something (a clock for waiting, a ticket for access). Decorative clutter is how a board becomes noise.
Uploads
Upload your own art when the library cannot be your mascot. The pipeline turns the image into a doodle (SVG + a mask) so the drawing hand can ink the outline. High-contrast, simple shapes work; photoreal portraits work less well.
Use the same upload across scenes. A mascot that mutates every beat is worse than a library character.
PDF figures
On the PDF path you can lean on figures detected in the document instead of (or as well as) the library. Still apply the reuse rule.
After the wizard
In the editor you can still replace an object. You cannot invent a drawing style that is not doodle — that is the product.

Questions people ask
How does casting work?
The wizard searches a library of hand-drawn characters and props using your story as the query, then proposes a small cast. You can swap, search, or upload your own art.
Should I use a new character in every scene?
No. Reuse two or three people so the video feels like one world. New faces every beat look like clipart, not a story.
Can I upload my own drawings?
Yes. Upload an image and Voodle turns it into a doodle the drawing hand can ink. Use this for mascots and recurring classroom stick figures.
